CONCLUSION OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
Descriptive text is a text or paragraph that contains a clear and detailed explanation or description of an object. The text contains an arrangement of words or sentences that can stimulate the five senses of the reader. The object described can be a place, object or something else.
Descriptive text aims to explain to the reader about a person, place, or thing in detail. In writing descriptive text, the tenses used are simple present tense.
There are two structures for making descriptive text, namely
- Identification (recognition of characters, places, objects) and
- Description (descriptions or special characteristics possessed by the object, place, or person being described.
Language Features
- Use nouns according to the topic being described. Such as: hospital, house, my car, and others.
- Use phrases that contain nouns. For example: he is a kind-hearted head of the lab, and others.
- Contains adjectives that describe something. Such as: two diligent students, three white socks, and so on.
- Contains transitive verbs to provide subject information. For example: The girl is wearing a brown uniform.
- Contains a verb (feeling, opinion) with the aim of expressing the author's personal view on a subject. Like: I think it's a smart chicken, I believe the clothes are cheap, and so on.
- Contains adverbs to provide additional information about an object. Like: sooner or later, at the coffee shop, at the hospital, and so on.
- Contains figurative language in the form of a parable or metaphor. Such as: His skin is pure white like white cotton.
